Request a workshop
If there is a trend you are noticing or behaviors you would like to address, you can request a specialized training to meet your department needs. Workshops must be scheduled at least four weeks in advance and have a minimum of 8 attendees. Each workshop will conclude with a 1-2 hours of discussion and engagement from the attendees.
DEI offers a range of courses to help our faculty and staff stay abreast of the changes the university is implementing regarding a more inclusive environment. From hiring to retaining a diverse work place to dealing with work place bias to discrimination. These courses are offered on demand and are free to FIU faculty and staff.
Our division has teamed up with the micro-credentialing office to create DEI badges. Micro-credentials are bite-sized educational experiences that build, validate, and enhance your professional skills. These are designed to prepare all learners with critical skills for the 21st century.
Bias Education & Support
These courses offer a deeper understanding of living and working at an institution that values diversity. We also provide resources on preventing bias and solutions to those who may have experienced bias discrimination.
DEI reading groups are free and open to all faculty, staff, and students. Each Semester, the reading group encourages open dialogue and reflection about diversity, equity, and inclusion on important social issues.
